陽關三疊圖
Painting by Sun Chengmin1

A servant carrying a rustic staff observes as two gentlemen drink wine. The inscription running across the top of the painting, right to left, first gives the title, "Seeing Off".2 It then quotes the famous poem, the full title of which is Seeing off Yuan Er to Anxi, by Wang Wei (701 - 761).3 After this the painter, Sun Chengmin,4 writes his own name and adds his seal.
