甯先生
列仙傳

The biography of Zi Zhu2 in the Biographies of the Immortals says that he worked on Longmei Mountain for a Mr. Ning, and that Mr. Ning played the qin. However, there seems to be no further mention of Mr. Ning in other sources, such as Qin Shi or Qin Shi Bu.

The account of Zi Zhu in the Biographies of the Immortals begins as follows,

Zi Zhu spoke in the Chu dialect with a fine voice, but no one knew where he was from. He told the King of Jiangdu that he had been a retainer of a Mr. Ning but had not received what was owed to him. People thought he was crazy. When asked where he lived he said, Longmei Mountain. The king then sent a messenger to Longmei Mountain, where he saw Mr. Ning. (Mr. Ning) had a hairy body and broad ears. With dishevelled hair hanging down his back he played the qin....

The biography has no further details about guqin.3

子主者,楚語而細音,不知何所人也。詣江都王,自言「寧先生僱我作客,三百年不得作直,以為狂人也。」問先生所在,雲在龍眉山上。王遣吏將上龍眉山巔,見寧先生,毛身廣耳,被發鼓琴。主見之叩頭,吏致王命。先生曰:「此主吾比舍九世孫。且念汝家,當有暴死女子三人。勿預吾事!」語竟,大風發,吏走下山。比歸,宮中相殺三人。王遣三牲立祠焉。

子主挺年,理有所資。寧主祠秀,拊琴龍眉。
以道相符,當與訟微。匡事竭力,問昭我師。
