聽 Listen to the recording from my SQMP CD
Zhu Quan, the compiler of Shen Qi Mi Pu, introduced Guanghan You with a preface that gave the melody a general Daoist theme: spirit wandering. However, several later handbooks connected it with a story of Tang emperor Ming Huang emperor making such a spirit journey to the moon. In the popular version of this he sees once again his beloved Yang Guifei doing the Rainbow Garment Dance.
