Ruan Yu

Ruan Yu (d.212), style name Yuanyu, was the father of #82 Ruan Ji. They were from Chenliu district, south of Kaifeng in Henan province. When young Ruan Yu studied qin from #77 Cai Yong, held high office under Cao Cao and was a well-known poet, often considered one of the Seven Scholars of Jian'an.4

Seven Masters of the Jian An Period (建安七子 Jian'an Qizi)
Jian'an was the reign period of the last Han emperor 獻帝 Xian Di (r. 189-220). 9786.26 says the seven scholars (also called the Seven Scholars of Jian'an) were 孔融 Kong Rong, 陳琳 Chen Lin, 王粲 Wang Can, 徐干 Xu Gan, 阮瑀 Ruan Yu, 應瑒 Ying Yang, and 劉楨 Liu Zhen, adding that they lived in 鄴 Ye, and so were also called 鄴中七子 Seven Scholars of Ye. Ye
(Wiki) was in what is today Linzhang County, Hebei, and the neighbouring Anyang County, Henan.
