10. Evening Call of the Raven
- Yu mode,2 standard tuning: 5 6 1 2 3 5 6 |
烏夜啼
1
Wu Ye Ti |
For the main information and the original preface, see the introduction in Shen Qi Mi Pu.
The version here is quite different from that in Shen Qi Mi Pu, though the preface is the same, except as noted.
In addition, instead of ending with a reference to play the coda from the modal introduction, there is a coda which as written strangely centers on sol in spite of the piece being in la mode throughout. Zheyin's Zhi Zhao Fei also does this.
The preface mostly quotes the preface to Wu Ye Ti in Shen Qi Mi Pu. However, it begins
"The Beyond-Sounds Immortal says....according to the Royal Ancestor's Handbook..."
and ends,
"(Here) one can see verification of a supernatural animal corresponding with a prophetic omen."
